Marriage Record Book F - 1890 to 1893

Abstract of early marriage records of Monroe County, Arkansas transcribed from the original Marriage Record Book F by Jo Claire English

Forward

The following records were transcribed from the original Marriage Record Book F in the office of the county clerk in the Monroe County Courthouse in Clarendon, Arkansas. Book F contains 638 pages, each containing spaces for a bond, an affidavit, a license and the marriage certificate. Many of the pages are not properly filled out. Some contain only a bond, others contain only a license and/or a bond but no marriage certificate, indicating the certificate was not returned to the clerk to be recorded or that the marriage did not take place.

In this publication a blank line is used to note the omission of an age, address, etc. Sec. is used after the name of the person who signed the bond as security, and if there is no marriage certificate "no return" is noted.

No attempt was made to correct the improper spelling in Book F, and as the transcribing required interpretation of the handwriting, some of which was faded, there are certain to be errors. If there are questions the original record should be consulted.
