Thomas D. Williams

Thomas D. Williams, former tax assessor of Monroe County and one of Clarendon’s oldest residents, died at his home here early Wednesday. He was a native of White County, but removed here when a boy. He served four terms as tax assessor. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was a member of the board of deacons many years. He married Miss Florence Taylor here 52 years ago. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Robert W., of Clarendon and Van Williams of Toledo, O.; a daughter, Mrs. A. A. Green of Fort Worth, Texas, and two brothers, Roscoe of Clarendon, and Chas. A. Williams of Lonoke. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. today at the Presbyterian church by the pastor, the Rev. S. T. Hill, assisted by th. Rev. Paul V. Galloway of the Methodist Church. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery.
