Mattie J. (Whitworth) Ward

News was received on December 10, 1902 of the early morning death of Mrs. Mattie J. Ward of Marvell. Before marriage she was Miss Mattie Whitworth, born and raised in Phillips County. She was the wife of J. W. Ward who died in 1876. She was survived by 6 grown children, all raised in Phillips County: W. H. & W. J. Ward of Ashely, La., L. C. Ward of Marvell, H. W. Ward of Clarksdale, Miss., Miss Ida Ward of Ashely, La., and Mrs. R. B. Macon of this city. She was probably buried in the family burial ground in Marvell.
