J. B. Ward

Turner - On Monday morning, J. B. Ward, one of the most prominent and influential citizens of Phillips County, died at his home at Turner, Ark. Mr. Ward was 51 years of age and had been married 28 years last Sunday at Turner. For about 24 years he had been Justice of the Peace at Turner, executing laws with precision and justice to all. He was said to be one of the best officers of Phillips County and was respected by all for his fairness, but positive performance of duty. For almost as many years he was Secretary of the school board at Turner, where he was ever diligent and faithful, and his diligence was rewarded by Dist. 13, Phillips County, being one of the first in all Arkansas in finance and facilities. .....Mr. Ward leaves one of the sweetest wives in the world and an adopted son. His estate is worth at least $25,000. Which he left in the same condition that he always maintained in his lifetime. His remains were interred at the cemetery at Turner and he was given a Masonic burial.
