Mary Strong

DIED, at the residence of Wm. Strong, Esq. In St. Francis County on the night of the 18th ult., Mary, in the 9th year of her age and Mr. V. C. Fillingin, in the 27th year of his age — the first a daughter and the other a stepson of Wm. Strong, Esq. Whose family has been severely afflicted with sickness. Five of his white family besides several colored persons were lying at the point of death at the same time. The disease with which they were afflicted commenced with a chill and was followed by sore throat, high fever, delirium and swelling of the throat and head. It has proved very fatal in Mr. Strong's family as well as in that of his neighbor Mr. B. M. Dorriss but its violence had some what abated on 23rd ult.
