WILLIAM PASCHAL COMMITS SUICIDE; LEFT TWO NOTES

William E. Paschal, 72 years old, retired timberman and farmer, ended his life late Wednesday, a coroner's jury reported, by shooting himself with a .22 caliber rifle at the home of his son, William E. Paschal, Jr 311 North Poplar Street. Ill health was ascribed as the reason for his act.

Coroner Walter McMahon, who impaneled a coroner’s jury after being called by police, said Mr. Paschal’s lifeless body, a bullet wound in the right side of his head, just above the ear, was found about 5 p.m. lying beside the wall near his bed. The coroner said he had apparently pulled the trigger while lying in bed.

Went Blind Suddenly: Members of his family said Mr. Paschal had been in ill health for two years and was stricken with a sudden attack of blindness Wednesday.

The coroner’s jury which returned a verdict of death by his own hand was composed of W. C. Rumley, V. T. Shepherd, Ed Lee, Bob Gookin, Harvey Cotledge and W. Y. Klyce.

Mr. Paschal was in the timber business near Marvel, Arkansas for many years and later engaged in farming. He came to Greenville following his retirement four years ago. He was a lifelong member of the Christian Church of the Hackley community in Arkansas

Services Saturday: He leaves his wife; a son, William E. Paschal, Jr., four daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Anderson and Mrs. Marie Jones, both of Marvel, Arkansas, Mrs. Gertie Parker of Greenville, Mrs. Christine James of Mobile, Ala., and several grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Paschal, in charge of Stovall Funeral Home, will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 at the Christian Church, 9 miles from Marvel, Arkansas. Burial will be in Hackley community cemetery.
