MICAGAH KEATH OBITUARY

KEATH - Micagah Keath was born in Montgomery Co., West Va., June 16, 1807, and died Aug. 9, 1892, at his daughter's, Mrs Harttely, in Monroe Co., Ark., at the age of 85 years, 1 month, 23 days. He moved to Tenn. when quite young, and was married in 1832 to Miss Margaret Replogle. In 1856 he moved to Ark., thence to De Soto Co., Miss., where he remained until the death of his companion in 1880. Since then he has made his home with his children. He was a true husband, a kind father, an honest and law abiding citizen, but did not join any Church in early life, believing that his good deeds were all the religion necessary. Realizing his error before it was too late, he was happily converted at the extreme old age of 76 years, and joined the Methodist Church, remaining a consistent Christian until his life closed. He was a strong man physically. During his last illness he suffered intensely, but would praise the Lord daily, and say that he had nothing to fear; was ready to go to Jesus. As he was nearing the dark "Valley of death," he would call loved ones gone before, and reach up, seemingly to join hands with them in the beautiful beyond. Shortly before he expired he called all to his bed-side and bade them a loving farewell. He leaves four sons, three daughters, a large number of grandchildren and friends, who deeply regret his death. May the children look up by faith to Him who has said, "As I live, ye shal live also," and where Jesus is there shall he be found. Bereft ones, grieve not as thise that have no hope. Only a brief separation, if you are faithful Christians, and he will greet you on the other shore.

He is waiting in that city, Where the saints and angels wait,
And you'll know your dearest father, When you reach the "Pearly Gate."

How sadly grandpa will be missed. His chair is vacant, his kind and gentle voice no longer heard. Oh! how sad!
