James Johns

A Double Crime Near Turner Near Turner, on the borders of Phillips and Monroe Counties, James Johns, a white farmer, and his niece were at home while Mrs. Johns was visiting her foster father who was ill. Neighbors discovered the Johns house on fire and rescued the dead bodies of Johns and his niece. The skulls of both were crushed. Johns' arms were broken and the girl was stabbed to the heart.
