Fred W. Jackson

The friends and acquaintances of Mrs. Sallie E. Jackson, Miss Emma Jackson, Mrs. Lillie Hathaway and Mrs. Minnie Boardman are respectfully invited to attend the funeral of Mr. Fred W. Jackson, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 9:00 A. M., Friday, August 11th. Services by pastor, Rev. E. C. Cargill, assisted by Rev. C. H. Gilmore. Interment at Shady Grove Cemetery. (From his bible and obituary it is determined that Frederick William Jackson was born April 23, 1858 at Indian Bay, married in 1894 to Mrs. Sallie E. Sebastian Brickell, and died August 10, 1911 at Clarendon.)


Source: Copied from a funeral notice or invitation which was printed on a white card or paper with a black border and was usually delivered to the homes of friends by a messenger wearing white gloves. The ladies carried handkerchiefs which were also white with a black border when they attended funerals.
