Obituary of Mrs. Amanda Louise Ingram
Aged Resident is Called by Reaper
Mrs. Amanda Louise Ingram, aged 82 years, 3 months and 5 days, resident of this section since 1904, died at 9 o’clock yesterday morning at a local hospital after an illness of six weeks. She had been at the hospital less than twenty-four hours. She was a native of Missouri and was the mother of nine children, all of whom but two preceded her to the grave. Her husband, John Ingram, passed away in April of last year.
Coming to this state in 1869, accompanied by her family in an immigrant train from Arkansas, where she resided during the Civil War period, she settled in this valley and came to Hub in 1904 where she had since resided, having made her home for the most part with her daughter, Mrs. Hattie Dowell.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Dowell, she is survived by Mrs. George Krau of Soap Lake, Washington, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be announced later by the Pugh Undertaking Parlors, who are in charge and who are awaiting word from Mrs. Krau as to her possible arrival. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Harlow of Riverdale, and interment will be made in the family plot in Grangeville Cemetery.
Note: Amanda Ingram was the daughter of John and Mary Curtis who were in Marshall Co., MS in the 1850 census, and in Monroe Co., Arkansas by 1859. Mandy married (1) William Jones (2) Henry Ingram (3) John H. Ingram, all in Monroe Co., Arkansas, before moving to Fresno Co., CA ,with her family in 1869. She was born in Mississippi rather than Missouri as stated in the obituary.
