ANOTHER PIONEER CITIZEN DEAD

Samuel A. Henderson, Esteemed Citizen and Ex-Confederate, Passes to His Long Home

On Monday noon last, at his home, in South Brinkley, Mr. Samuel A. Henderson, esteemed pioneer citizen and Ex-Confederate Soldier, died, at the unusual age of 81 years.

Samuel A. Henderson was born in Washington County, Miss., Jan. 7, 1839, and came to this country when a boy, settling in Richland township where he lived until he moved to Brinkley some 25 years ago.

He was wounded twice and given an honorable discharge therefor while serving in the Confederate Army, but each time returned to the service where he served until the close of the war.

The deceased was married to Mrs. Sophia Barrier about 53 years ago enjoying a beautiful and happy companionship until her death only a few weeks since. He leaves a son, C. S. Henderson, 7 grand children and 2 great grand children and a sister, Mrs. Mary Harding of Moro to mourn his death.

Mr. Henderson was a devoted Christian and member of the Methodist church. The funeral was on Saturday afternoon at the family residence, Rev. L. E. Mann officiating. The burial was at Oak Lawn.
