R. H. Henderson

At his home on Friday morning last, Esquire R. H. Henderson, one of our pioneer citizens, died at his home on S. New York, Ave., after a two weeks illness. Mr. Henderson was 70 years of age, born near Cotton Plant Jan. 21, 1850. He was married three times, his marriage to his surviving wife, Mrs. Katie Forbess Henderson, being in 1885. Two sons, Messrs. R. R. Henderson and J. M. Henderson, one brother, Mr. Samuel Henderson and a sister, survive the deceased. The funeral, which would have otherwise been held at the M. E. Church, of which Mr. Henderson was a long and prominent official member, was held at Oaklawn Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, Rev. M. M. Smith of Paragould, formerly a presiding elder of this district officiating. The deceased was a member of the Elk’s Lodge of this city. He had served as Justice of the Peace and Mayor of this city and was well known. He was of a clever, kindly, sunshiny, disposition that will cause him to be missed in the family circles.
