Sarah B. (Adams) Drake

Mrs. Sarah B. Drake, widow of the late Dr. J. s. Drake, died this morning at 3 o’clock at her home at 825 Ohio Street, after an illness lasting several months. She had a sort of slow fever and had been very low several times of late but had rallied. This morning the end came. She was a woman of noble character and of admirable traits, the most prominent of which was her spirit of self-sacrifices for her children and her friends. She was Miss Sarah Adams of Meridian, Miss., before marrying Dr. Drake. They were formerly wealthy but met with adversities and after his death Mrs. Drake bravely went to work for her children. One child survives her, her daughter Miss Minnie, who is left peculiarly along and upon her he dad blow falls very heavily indeed. Mrs. Drake also has one sister and three brothers, living near Meridian, Miss. The funeral services will be held at the residence on Ohio Street this evening at 6 o’clock, services by the Rev. Father P. P. Mazuret, and the remains will be taken to the county, near Vineyard, for interment beside the remains of Dr. Drake.
