ANOTHER OLD SOLDIER PASSES AWAY
On Thursday last., Feb 26th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. L. Brickell, on South Main St., in this city Mr. R. L. Carter of Memphis, died after a short illness, aged 78 years.
Mr. Carter was born in Smith County, Kentucky, Sept. 21, 1842, and lived for many years at Bowling Green, Ky. He moved to Memphis several years ago and has since lived with his son, Mr. H. P. Carter. He came here on a visit a few months since.
The deceased was an ex-Confederate soldier, having served with honor through the entire war.
The funeral was at the Brickell residence, conducted by Pastors Mann and Davis. The interment was at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
A widow, one son, Mr. H. P. Carter, and one daughter, Mrs. H. L. Brickell, survive the old soldier.
