E. C. Brown Dead: Prominent Citizen Dies at His Brinkley Home Wednesday Morning. On Wednesday morning at his home on South New York Avenue E. C. Brown, one of our oldest and best known citizens, died, after a prolonged illness. Mr. Brown came to this county from Fayette county, Tenn. in 1859. In 1874 Mr. Brown married Miss Jennie Davidson, who survives him and from the marriage there were ten children to bless their lives. Those who survive him are Messrs. L. K. Brode, Walter and Louis Brown, Misses Fannie and Hattie Brown, Mrs. J. M. Haynie of Helena and Mrs. C. T. Hudson of this city. Mr. Brown was one of our earliest citizens. By his untiring energy and thrift he emased a most comfortable property holding. He was president of the Spot Cash Stores, so successfully operated by his son, Mr. L. K. Brown and son-in-law, Mr. C. T. Hudson. The funeral at the Methodist Church at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon was conducted by Rev. W. P. Talkington.
