FORMER BRINKLEY DRUGGIST’S DEATH - A. D. Brooks, a Former Brinkley Druggist, dies at Marvell; Burial in Brinkley last Sunday.
On Friday night, Oct 29th, sometime during the night, at his boarding place in Marvell, A. D. Brooks, formerly a Brinkley druggist passed away.
The deceased was 55 years of age and came to Brinkley 30 years ago. He married a beautiful and talented Brinkley girl, Miss L’Verta Cargill, Oct 8th, 1897, who survives the husband as does a son, A. M. Brooks, of Leesville, La., and a daughter, Mrs. Wade H. Brown of Harrisburg Ark. The burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery Brinkley Sunday afternoon, Rev. Calahan of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. officiating. The pall bearers were Jas. W. Stewart, Jas. L. Woodfin, J. C. Lamm, T. C. Simmons, E. T. McCreight, E. D. McKnight, Dr. F. T. Murphy, and William B. Folsom.
The deceased leaves 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Dr. C. M. Brooks of Little Rock, E. L. Brooks of Florence Ala., and E. W. Brooks and Mrs. W. D. Harrison of Pulaski, Tenn., Mrs. G. W. Hughes of Ethridge, Ala.
The deceased was a big hearted, clever fellow, and fine druggist, and had many friends wherever he was known.
