W. F. Branch

PROMINENT SOUTH END MAN DEAD - Mr. W. F. Branch of Holly Grove, Dies and is Laid to Rest After a Long and Useful Life.

Mr. W. F. Branch, who died at St. Luke’s Hospital, Little Rock, at 12:20 noon, February 20, 1920, was born Jan. 11, 1849, near Williston, Fayette County, Tenn., and when 10 years of age, his father, James Branch, removed to Monroe County, Arkansas.

In 1874 he married Miss Ella Walls and to them were born four children of whom Mrs. J. Burton Moore of Clarendon and Mrs. Smith of Siloam Springs, still live. His wife died in 1886.

In 1888, Mr. Branch married Miss Ada Peete and in this marriage three children were born, one of whom W. F. Branch, Jr., and his mother survive.

The subject of this sketch united with the Presbyterian church, in Holly Grove, under the preaching of Rev. R. B. Willis, then of Searcy, Ark., now Montreat, N.C. This was Jan. 6, 1889, while Rev. W. C. Hogan was supplying the church and Mr. W. F. Sain was Clerk of the Session.

The burial of Mr. Branch was at Holly Grove Sunday. A large concourse of friends were in attendance.
