Died: On Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. T. Black on South Main street, Mrs. Mary Jane Anderson, died at the ripe old age of 88 years. Mrs. Anderson’s maiden name was Scott. She was born Mar. 16th, 1821, in Virginia and was married to James Anderson, of Hanover, Pa., in 1842. To them were born two daughters, Mesdames Hanna and J. T. Black, both of whom were present to administer to her, with loving hands, during her last illness. Mrs. Anderson has been a member of the United Presbyterian church for over 70 years and has been a constant subscriber and reader of her church paper for 67 years, which reveals her steadfast faith and strong character. She was a noble woman and during her last years of affliction, being an invalid, she bore her trials in such a way as to endear her to all who came in contact with her. The funeral was from the residence Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Thos. E. McSpadden, of the First Presbyterian church, officiating, assisted by Rev. W. P. Talkington Methodist church.
