Jordan B. Lambert Cemetery

This cemetery is on land in Monroe County, Arkansas, purchased by Jordan Bennett Lambert on 30 Sep 1840. It is located in the middle of a field. The land is now owned by Samuel Pointer Hall. Inventoried January 15. 1990 by Jo Claire English.

Rev. Jordan B. Lambert, b. May 9, 1798, d. Jan 11, 1860. (Large stone, missing a tall slender ornament which is leaning near the large stone base.) The base is inscribed “LAMBERT” and the ornament is not inscribed. Two other sides of the Lambert stone have inscriptions.

North side of stone:

• Matilda L. b. Jan 21, 1820, d. Jan 4, 1853 wife of J. K. Lambert

• Thomas J. b. Jul 9, 1856, d. Dec 11, 1854
• Edward J. b. Jul 9, 1856, d. Aug 15, 1860

South side of monument:
• William B. Lambert b. Aug 26, 1824, d. Jun 4, 1852
• Mary A. Ferris, b. May 10, 1829, d. Oct 31, 1847 (oldest burial found)
• Martha H Green, also her daughter Martha Key, b. Jul 2, 1855, d. Feb 4, 1859

• Mary A. Ferris b. May 10, 1829, d. Oct 31, 1847, and a foot stone MAF
• The tallest stone standing: “This monument sacred to the memory of my dear wife Martha H. Green who died March 3, 1857, aged 25 years 1 mo & 10 days. She was a fond mother, a devoted wife, an affectionate daughter and sister, and a zealous Christian.” H. D. Green.
• Martha Key, youngest child of H. D. and Martha H. Green, who died Feb 1, 1858, aged 2 years 8 months 2 days. H. D. Green.

Part of an iron gate is on the ground, indicating the cemetery was at one time enclosed.

No stone was found for Judith Key Lambert, wife of Jordan B., who died about 1866/1868.
No stone was found for Robert B. Lambert, son of Jordan & Judith, b. 23 Apr 1828 & who d 11 Apr 1862 during the Civil War. According to family members, his body was supposedly brought back for burial.
Beverly Joel Lambert, son of Jordan & Judith, is buried in the Valley Grove Cemetery which is nearby. He was b. 4 May 1838 d 13 Nov 1890.
Another son Samuel Thomas Lambert n 11 Sep 1840 d 22 Mar 1896 Pierce City, MO.
Three children who supposedly died young were not found here.

At the edge of the cemetery is the following stone: Cornelia Hoard, faithful member of Lone (One?) Star Circle No 124, d. Apr 6, 1920.

A stone with Wilburn but no other information is also in this cemetery.
